Kings College, London is one of the oldest and most prestigious UK university institutions and has over 19,500 students.
The College approached us to assist them in managing their 10,000 assets throughout their campus that consists of some 25 buildings. They were looking for an asset identification solution to keep a regular, up to date record of the status of all their plant equipment to improve service intervals, breakdowns and through life costs. Several methods of asset identification such as serial numbers and barcode solutions were investigated but it was realised that these would not guarantee any longevity of identification. These issues were due to the location of the equipment and the hostile environments including extremes of temperatures that the plant was operating in.
Our Asset Base iD complete solution was used to identify, manage and control King’s College 10,000 assets throughout their campus. RFID tagging all 10,000 plant assets on Campus ensured that each asset could be identified and pinpointed on an asset register with a high degree of accuracy. The level of management information provided by Asset Base iD has provided Kings College with invaluable information on many different types of assets. This information has allowed Kings College to be more informed about their assets including location, condition and through life usage. The asset register will provide a comprehensive through life audit trail along with a predictive and preventative maintenance regime.
